the period of dream smp narrative progression commonly understood as "season 1" took place between the agreement of w/lbur s//t and tommyinnit's characters cwilbur and ctommy to create a potion selling business together, and the infamous november 16th detonation of l'manberg by the former's hand. w/lbur was known to write treatments for narratively significant livestreams (hereafter known as "lore streams"), documents which outlined the salient events of the evening and gave the participants an idea of what should be accomplished during the events of the day. after the death of cwilbur, in the wake of the aforementioned november 16th explosion, w/lbur s//t declared that he would take a step back from being so hands-on and directorial with the narrative of the dream smp, and left the planning of "season 2" (which at the time had barely begun) up to his coworkers, including dr//mwastaken and technoblade.
however, w/lbur s//t introduced the character of ghostbur in the latter half of november 2020, giving himself an excuse to continue logging on to the dream smp and roleplaying with his friends despite having killed his character off days before. he set this era of roleplay apart from the cwilbur he'd played previously by never actually streaming his own perspective of events. ghostbur was exclusively seen through the eyes of others, which thematically aided the idea that nobody knew the real cwilbur, only the many masks he'd presented to many different people during his lifetime. ghostbur tried and failed to assert himself as a different person to "alivebur", and part of what made that such an unsuccessful endeavour was that we couldn't see ghostbur's pov, so we didn't know if his thought patterns were truly different to cwilbur's.
however, this consistent fact about ghostbur - the fact that we did not see his pov - was negated in january 2021, when we got the first and only ghostbur lore stream. it began shortly after the events of doomsday: ctechno, cphil, and cdream had ravaged l'manberg down to rubble, far far worse than the november 16th explosion, using more withers and tnt duping technology.
w/lbur s//t went live for about half an hour that evening, fully in character as ghostbur. he spoke to cphil and ctommy about the events of the day, angrily chastising cphil for likely allowing friend the sheep to die even though he knew how much it meant to ghostbur, and expressing to ctommy that he no longer wanted to exist in the state he was in, and would rather "alivebur" was revived. it was an outburst of negative emotion that was rarely seen from ghostbur, who characterised himself by his consistent optimism, trust, and insistence on forgetting all of the terrible things his living counterpart had done.
w/lbur s//t would not stream again on the dream smp until the day of the revival lore stream in may, four months later. this means that, in six months of consistent roleplaying as ghostbur on the dream smp, we only saw it live from his perspective once.
in this essay, i argue that w/lbur s//t planned to never stream ghostbur's perspective, but that the concept and execution of the doomsday lore stream left him so angry at the direction that his colleagues were taking with their story-writing that he was spurred to log in specifically so he could yell at philza for writing the character of cphil this way, and i will not be taking criticism on this position,

Hello! Could you help me with something? I read that Jewish people call God HaShem l, but why do they also write "God" as "G-d"?
Quick disclaimer that I am not an expert, and while I want to give a thorough answer, I also do not want to be too wordy - I may leave out some things!
The long and short of it really comes down to respect and revearing His name! There are many names used for g-d, and in fact, I can think of many just off the top of my head!
When g-d's name is written down, whatever is used to inscribe that name on should not be destroyed - to the point that there are specialized places (genziah) where one may place time-worn objects (such as tefillin or manuscripts with g-d's name written down within the pages) within in order to be properly disposed of. In fact, we have one for our shul and community and though I haven't gone, it's a serious thing!
One way we "get around" using g-d's name is calling Him Hashem (השם), which just means The Name - it's appropriate to use pretty much whenever, honestly. In shul (at least, mine), we don't use Hashem in prayer or reading from the Torah, we instead use Adonai, or Elohim, or whatever is appropriate for the prayer or situation. G-d is a g-d of name names, but honestly, if someone respects g-d's name, the semantics about Which Name is right become ess emphasized, in my experience.

I'm rewatching Yugioh 5D's again (because my hyperfixation has gotten that bad lol) and it's interesting how much of it I'm seeing in a new light now that I'm much older. The last time I watched this, I was in my late teens. Now, as an adult, seeing Leo's reaction to meeting Yusei is so cute. He's just a kid who meets this cool adult turbo duelist and desperately wants to be seen as cool too. He's like "you're a duelist? I am too! I want to be king some day. Do you like the current king? I do!" And when Yusei shows little interest and tries to leave he's like "wait! I (my sister) got picked to be in this tournament, isn't that cool?" And then he tries dueling him. It's just such a kid thing to meet an older person you think is cool and be annoying trying to impress them. I liked Leo when I was younger, but as an adult and understanding what he's doing makes me appreciate him so much more. It's just nice that in the yugioh season with a mostly adult cast, they actually made the kid character act like a kid. I love this show

They did the narrative threading thing again with going from the Artisanship Commission to the Alchemy Commission. They talk about new lives under new names in old flesh in the Artisanship Commission, and she mentions immediately later the Alchemy Commission, where Bailu is. What a nice lapse
#I know she isn't showing much pity for her friend here as Yanqing says but I think it's essential that she too loved him once#And that a part of her still does‚ and viceversa#This felt since the first scene like Jingliu mourning and saying farewell not just to Baiheng but to Yingxing too#And the scene in the Artisanship Commission enhanced that feeling to me#idk... She seems to be saying farewell to everyone and the group itself#A funeral of sorts for all of them and their bond#Awkwardly done‚ perhaps‚ by someone from a culture that lacks mourning rituals for the dead#I didn't get at all why we had to go through Tingyun's funeral considering that we didn't really got to know her much#and what we knew wasn't even her#It felt even more intrusive than other similar instance of 'protagonist just protagonisting' we've had in the game before#But now it's clear we had to go through that to understand better what is happening here in the context in which it's happening#and with the weight every detail carries#But I won't ramble more. This is starting to be very unrelated to the post haha#I talk too much#Traces#I guess#I want to save some of these ideas later. Perhaps with some of the screenshots I've taken#But I'm always so lazy I keep postponing everything haha#And to make things worse I should be doing an altogether different thing right now but here I am#I'm not censoring names right now I'm sorry but I can't stand that tumblr forces me to do that when I want to write things down quickly#Censoring is very annoying while writing with the phone#I'll come back later and change things in a bit. Just ignore me please if anyone sees this#I've checked and the post is not appearing in the general tag for me right now but who knows#It may appear in ten minutes from now instead I don't trust tumblr at all

do you have any oc aus that are like, your OCs inserted into a fandom/canon universe?
Well- I generally tend to make an oc specific to a fandom rather than the other way around lol but that's mostly because I'm Extremely Pedantic about working my characters into existing lore, it's part of the fun of oc making for me!
I got into character design as a kid when I got into mlp:fim and started designing just an ungodly amount of ponies, and just never really stopped. The fandoms changed over time and eventually fandoms turned into my own fun worlds I make just to stuff full of characters and abandon lmao
I have one specific oc who's sort of a blank slate self insert I use for the couple dating sim games I'm really into, you could call them being placed into various games as the MC aus I guess?
But it's funny you ask that cause that post was specifically me thinking about a furry au I made for a different, specific fandom oc and their chosen romance partner lmao. They're a rabbit and a jack Russell terrier (hunting dog bred to hunt foxes, but they're also commonly used to hunt rabbits) respectively. The rabbit is decently in line with my other characters, which means they're a weird freak who's way too into blood and I just think it's really funny to have that kind of character be a small prey animal lmao

if there's one thing i dislike about s0j it's that i don't like how the way they wrote the khura'1n setting feels so orientalist to me. an asian matriachal country with a tyrannic government that needs to be helped by foreigners (american/japanese depending on the og or localized version)? uh. uhhhhhhhhhhh. uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. idk
also in the same topic i just want to point out how some of the hatred towards the game feel r*cist to me just bc it seems inconvenient for outsiders. but that's just me

Being in weeb spaces means people will commend a shonen for it's "good treatment of female characters" as if all of their powers aren't solely focused on how physically attractive they are to men or how in love they are with a man, meanwhile the men all get unique powers that don't rely on their attraction or attractiveness towards anyone at all.
